The Carnival Museum of Sciacca is an enchanting place that preserves the memory of over 100 years of this wonderful festival's history. Inaugurated in 2010, in the center of a garden overlooking a sea-view terrace, it houses beautiful exhibits from the Sciacca Carnival, including a collection of miniature models reproducing the Allegorical Floats that participated in past editions of the festival. These are true works of art, entirely crafted from ceramic, hand-molded, and decorated by Sciacca's artists.
Today, the Carnival Museum holds around 100 historical models of Sciacca Carnival floats. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by the museum's first section: the photographic gallery. These images capture some of the most evocative moments from the Sciacca Carnival. Following this, several historical costumes from the carnival are on display. Each costume is closely tied to the theme—an allegory of the float it belongs to, bearing witness to the great attention to detail dedicated to costumes during the festival days. Continuing through the exhibit, visitors reach the area of the miniatures: the famous handmade models of the Sciacca Carnival’s Allegorical Floats, created by numerous artists of the traditional handcrafted ceramics. The photographic gallery, historical costumes, and the unique miniatures of the Allegorical Floats form a colorful backdrop, with papier-mâché elements towering overhead: authentic parts of the Sciacca Carnival floats preserved within the museum.
