MUSEO DIFFUSO dei 5 Sensi
Piazza Libertà 2 Sciacca (AG) – Italy
(Medieval Bastion)
We are a "Museo Diffuso," which means that Sciacca itself is our open-air museum. Here, every element of the city, including its people with their stories, represents our priceless treasure, ready to be shared with anyone who comes to visit us.

Who we are
Il Museo diffuso dei 5 sensi
We are an "Open-Air Museum," which means we are always open, and every aspect of our city, including its people and their stories, is the great treasure we wish to offer to our visitors. The best way to get to know us is by engaging all your senses: the taste of our food, the colors of our lands, the sounds of our voices, the works of our hands, and the scents of our fruits. A unique experience you will never forget.
An aware community
We are a community that has chosen to write the pages of its own future and well-being through a shared project. A dream, a vision, and a goal that we want to achieve together. Beauty is our weapon, expertise is the tool. The young are the lifeblood, the elderly are the memory, and unity of purpose is the fuel. Being ambassadors of the identity and beauty of our land is a privilege and the greatest opportunity we have to invest in our future. Everything we are—our gazes, our secret rhythms, our arts, our history, and our identity—we wish to offer to you when you come to visit us.
The project
Our goal is to raise awareness of the immense historical, artistic, artisanal, landscape, and food and wine heritage of our region. It is our duty to rediscover, protect, and enhance it. Through our storytelling and actions, we make it accessible to others, creating an economic model where ethics and results are no longer in opposition. This is the Economy of Beauty.
Community Cooperative
Part of the Open-Air Museum are artisans, merchants, accommodations, restaurants, cultural associations, trade associations, and many other pieces of a mosaic made up of unique elements.
Sustainability
Environmental sustainability is one of the cornerstones of our project because we want to leave our land to our children in a better state than we found it. Our sea is home to one of the largest Posidonia Oceanica meadows in the Mediterranean, and our beaches have been chosen by the Caretta Caretta sea turtles as an ideal place for laying their eggs. This delicate habitat must be protected.
For this reason, actions have already been taken within the Open-Air Museum, and more will be added soon, aimed at environmental conservation, particularly by reducing single-use plastic consumption.
For example, all of our accommodations are progressively eliminating single-use soaps from bathrooms in favor of ceramic dispensers from Sciacca. These dispensers reduce plastic bottle use and promote our local craftsmanship.
They are made by our master ceramists, and you can buy them and take them home as a souvenir or choose a style you like and visit our workshops to create your own. The liquid soap and shower products are made from natural, local ingredients: oil, citrus fruits, and spices. This philosophy extends to our workshops, bars, restaurants, and information points.
We are at the beginning of a significant journey and feel we are part of a real change.
We look forward to welcoming you to Sciacca!
